I hope you all had a great Christmas and that you are staying safe from the virus!
I myself had a great Christmas in Sweden with my family and will soon head back
to work in Italy! Sometimes it’s nice to get back home and regroup a bit, but
now I can’t wait to go back to Italy!
I just wanted to rewind a bit and go back to look what we accomplished in 2020
season. It’s been ups and downs but this year the ups were higher than the
downs!
The season started of bad, With an injury just before the season opener in
valkenswaard Holland. And I missed the first round. This hurt me mentally
because I knew I was ready to battle and that I was fast! But sometimes this
sport is like this.
During my recovery the virus hit the world hard and all racing was canceled and
the world was on lockdown at some points. This was terrible for a lot of people
also me but this break meant that I could fully recover before getting back on
the bike without no rush, which was good! I also had long time to prepare for
the season to start up again and so I did.
In this time I graduated school and I was feeling really
good on the bike, and I could focus 100% on motocross. Shortly after I
graduated I moved down to Holland with my team Riley racing Yamaha and was
taken care by Olaf Haazen and his family and together we worked hard during the
break and I can’t thank him and his family enough for that time and for the
whole season!
Then the break was over and finally we could go racing! And the season started
of again in Latvia, where I road really consistent and got my first ever top 3
race results and my first ever top 5 overall finishes, actually during the 3
races there I got 3x top 5 overall finishes!
I returned to Holland happy but determined to go on the podium and i world
really hard for this together with my trainer Rickard Sandberg and the next
race was Italy Mantova.
Mantova will from now on always be a special place for me as during the 3 races
I scored my first ever overall podium! It felt so good, this is something I’ve
dreamed about for a long time and finally the work is starting to pay of!
But I also had 2 difficult races at the same track as I did not feel like
myself riding but I left Mantova with my dad in a top 5 overall position in the
championship standing!
Next rounds was Spain and Belgium. And before Spain I spent some time with my
old trainer Steven Frossard and that really helped me as his hard pack skills
effected my riding and I felt quite good! And the results of that race in Spain
was decent and good for me because i only did about 2 trainings of hard pack in
all of the year. But I was still determined to get back on the box.
So Lommel Belgium was next and I felt so good I knew I was fast in this track!
But I had some problems crashes and bike problems kept me from top positions
but I gave it my best and ended of the season with the last moto of the last
race finishing in 3rd. It felt good but also bad because I knew if I didn’t
have those problems I would have been again on the box and also I would have
been top 5 in the championship standings. But now I finished of in 6th and
that’s actually not so bad either because I missed some races due to problems
and injury in the beginning of the season.
Overall I’m so happy about this season because I know now that I am a contender
for top positions for next year and with my new team signing with ghidinelli
Yamaha racing the goal is nothing less!
